Doug Hissong received his Masonic degrees from Eastgate Lodge in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Columbus, Ohio, where he affiliated with Community Lodge and began moving through the officers' line. He served as Lights and Music Chairman, Fellowcraft Captain, Junior Steward, and Senior Steward. He then moved to Houston, where he affiliated with Gray Lodge. He served the Houston Masonic Library and Museum Foundation as Publicity Co-Chairman, and has served Gray Lodge as Chaplain and for the last 2-1/2 years as Treasurer. He has been Chairman of the Finance and Building Committees. He has been a Mason for 38 years, and finds it very enjoyable and rewarding. Doug and his wife, Barbara, joined Community Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, and upon moving to Houston affiliated with Bluebell Chapter. Doug served as Sentinel, and Barbara served as two star points. Doug grew up in Ohio and attended University of Cincinnati and The Ohio State University, studying chemical engineering. He worked four years for Battelle Columbus Laboratories and has now worked over 39 years for ExxonMobil in Baton Rouge, New Jersey, and Houston. In Houston, he works at ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company. Doug and Barbara have three sons. Steve lives in Seattle with his wife and two children. Tom and James live in Houston. Doug's primary hobby is water skiing, which actually includes a variety of activities done behind a boat. He also enjoys snow skiing and golf.
